A youth is facing a string of charges after police used stingers to stop him driving an allegedly stolen car in Geraldton on Wednesday.

Police said officers were patrolling Strathalbyn about 2.20am when they spotted a Mitsubishi Pajero which had been reported stolen the night before.

When they tried to pull the driver over, he allegedly accelerated away.

Police said the vehicle was later stopped without further incident when a tyre deflation device was used.

A 17-year-old Mullewa youth has since been charged with aggravated burglary, stealing, stealing a motor vehicle, aggravated fail to stop, aggravated reckless driving and no authority to drive.
