A collaborative event hosted by the Harvey Community Resource Centre and the Harvey Senior Citizens Centre has helped inform residents how to prepare and plan for their wishes to be heard in their final days.
More than 40 people attended a workshop run by Palliative Care Australia, which aimed to inform people of the rights and choices open to them for end-of-life care.
“It was a really good turnout,” Harvey CRC manager and event organiser Tracey-Ann Davis said.
Ms Davis said the main theme of the workshop was for people to let their loved ones know what they would like to happen when the time came.
“Have the conversation,” she said.
“If not yet, start thinking about it and talk to your spouse.”
Ms Davis said it was a positive workshop which empowered people to think about their choices without feeling afraid.
“By having a conversation you will at least have a voice.”
Ms Davis said centre staff hoped to host a second workshop later this year.
