Women’s groups express assist, relief in wake of Rep. Steve Lebsock expulsion

Groups supporting women in Colorado spoke out Friday afternoon in the aftermath of Rep. Steve Lebsock’s expulsion.

Rep. Faith Winter “bravely led the charge when she filed her complaint,” Planned Parenthood said in a written statement. “We trust and believe women. We believe survivors. We believe it is time to stand together with leaders we know stand with women everyday and say #timesup.”

Planned Parenthood, which serves 70,000 Coloradans across the state, applauded the extraordinary action taken Friday by the Colorado House of Representatives.

“Our elected officials must uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct, and those in positions of power who engage in sexual misconduct and violate the trust of their constituents, colleagues, and staff, should take full responsibility for their actions and step aside,” the statement said.
