Two new bubs have wiggled their way into the world, with Purple Wiggle Lachlan “Lachy” Gillespie and ballerina Dana Stephensen tonight welcoming twin baby girls.
Lachy announced the arrival on Instagram this evening, sharing an adorable picture of the twins to his 83,000 followers as they rested with their mother while he looked on lovingly.
“Oh Lulu and Lottie, your mummy and daddy love you with all we have,” he wrote in the caption.
“You are both so beautiful – and I would love to sing to you both forever.”
The news left fans in complete shock, with the pair never having revealed the pregnancy.
The post celebrating little Lulu and Lottie’s arrival attracted more than 680 comments in the first 30 minutes and thousands of likes.
Yellow Wiggle Emma Watkins — Lachy’s ex-wife, the Wiggles band, Seven’s Melissa Doyle, Anthony Wiggle and Simon Wiggle were among the celebs who shared their joy at the news.
Lachy, 34, and his fiance Ms Stephensen, also 34, sparked baby rumours — sending fans into a frenzy — when they hinted they had some special news to share in April.
In the image they posted, the pair snuggled up to one another, sending social media into overdrive and prompting fans to comment on Ms Stephensen “glowing skin”.
But several days later the pair put those rumours to bed by announcing their engagement instead.
“On Thursday night, Dana asked me to marry her at home under a fairy light sky and a very excited little boy in a beautiful bow tie,” Lachy wrote, alongside a picture of her young son and a fairy-lit bedroom.
Ms Stephensen is a senior Artist with The Australian Ballet and is believed to have met Gillespie while recording a video segment for The Wiggles.
Tiny hearts were crushed when kids’ TV power couple Lachy and yellow Wiggle Emma announced they were going their separate ways in 2018.
The couple wed in a stunning ceremony in country NSW and were married for two years.
In an Instagram post, the pair said they had undertaken a six-month trial separation before they split.
“Throughout that period, we have performed hundreds of shows together and that is always a continued source of joy for us both.
“We have embraced this as a very positive change in our relationship.”
They insisted they had stayed friends throughout their split and continued to tour together with The Wiggles.
