West Coast star Nic Naitanui could miss fourth straight finals series

West Coast ruckman Nic Naitanui’s dreams of playing finals for the first time since 2015 are hanging on the result of a detailed analysis of scans on his injured right ankle.

The All-Australian big man looms as the heartbreak story of the season after injuring his right ankle during a marking contest in the opening minutes of Friday night’s loss to Collingwood at Optus Stadium.

Naitanui was playing just his third AFL game since returning from a knee reconstruction and has been ruled out for at least the next month. But West Coast coach Adam Simpson said they needed more information before knowing whether he would be absent for the fourth finals series in a row.
