West Coast star Elliot Yeo ruled out for Eagles’ 2020 finals campaign due to osteitis pubis

West Coast superstar Elliot Yeo’s season is over with the club ruling the gun midfielder out for their upcoming finals campaign after a persistent groin issue.

The midfield bull has not played since round 11 against Carlton at the start of August battling osteitis pubis, with no clear indication on a possible return date the Eagles today announced the Yeo would miss the 2020 post-season.

“Unfortunately with Elliot we’ve reached a bit of a stalemate in terms of the progress with his OP (osteitis pubis),” West Coast general Manager Football Craig Vozzo.

“We haven’t been able to elevate his training to the level required to give him the chance to play.

“The pain levels for Elliot are too great, and the medical advice is we’re better off taking a long-term approach, which we need to do.

“Elliot’s extremely disappointed, but we’re going to have to obviously put his season on ice.

“We’re obviously very disappointed too, but we had no choice in this circumstance. It’s the right thing from a medical point-of-view to get him right for the long-term.”

Yeo is one of the Side’s most influential players and will be missed during their upcoming finals run, but there is some good news with fellow recovering midfielder and captain Luke Shuey (hamstrings) a chance to return against Collingwood.
