West Coast, Carlton legend Chris Judd slammed for cancer joke at cancer fundraiser

Dual Brownlow medallist Chris Judd has had to apologise after making a cancer joke at a children’s cancer fundraiser.

Appearing on The Footy Show as part of their My Room Telethon fundraiser on Thursday night, Judd was asked by Shane Crawford how he smells so nice even though he doesn’t use deodorant.

“I’m using a natural deodorant. The by-product of that is that it doesn’t actually work, but I’m not going to die of cancer,” Judd replied.

The look on his wife Rebecca’s face said it all.

Less than an hour later, after outrage on social media, Judd was back on the show apologising for the gaffe.

“I had no intention to be offensive, but no doubt it’s come across that way to some people,” he said.

“So my apologies, we’re all here for the right reasons tonight and I hope it doesn’t detract from the night.”
