West Australian woman killed, boy fighting for life after horror crash in South Australia

A West Australian woman has been killed and a young boy is fighting for life after a crash involving a car and a logging truck in South Australia.

Police said the crash happened on Donovans Rd in Wye, south of Mount Gambier, in the Limestone Coast on Friday at 12.30pm.

The 38-year-old female driver of the car died at the scene, while an eight-year-old boy who was sitting in the back seat suffered critical injuries.

He was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne for treatment, police said.

A 36-year-old man, who was the front passenger, and two other children in back seat — a six-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl — received minor injuries.

They were all taken to the local hospital for treatment.

The 58-year-old truck driver was uninjured and is assisting police.
