West Aussie Brooke Blurton has been announced as the next Bachelorette.
The Carnarvon-born Yamatji- Noongar woman has been cast as the first openly bisexual star on the popular reality TV show.
Blurton will have both males and females competing for her attention, marking the first time The Bachelor or Bachelorette has had a mixed gender cast.
“Times are more progressive and sexuality and gender expression are just so fluid these days,” she told News Corp Australia.
Blurton burst onto the scene in Nick Cummins’ season of The Bachelor Australia, after leaving the mansion on her own terms.
She later revealed, during a stint on Bachelor in Paradise that Cummins— known as The Honey Badger— had confided in her that he was not going to choose a winner.
The announcement comes less than a week after Blurton revealed she was single, denying rumours she was dating Geelong Cats player Jed Bews.
The former reality-TV contestant had the rumour mill running rampant after she was snapped with the footballer at a game, but set the record straight that she was there to support her cousin and Cats midfielder, Quinton Narkle.
And even though she was romantically linked to singer G Flip earlier this year, Blurton has revealed she is not dating.
“You’d be photographed with a footballer or with any girl, like I was with G Flip, and people want to assume you’re automatically linked, but I’m not dating,” Blurton said.
