Watch and act alert issued for bushfire in Shire of Dandaragan

UPDATE: The bushfire emergency warning has been downgraded to a watch and act alert.

Lives and homes are no longer under threat but residents need to stay alert to potential dangers.

The affected zone covers an area 100km north of Perth after an emergency bushfire warning was issued for people in and around Regans Ford in the Shire of Dandaragan.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services intially announced an emergency warning just before 1.30pm this afternoon for the area bounded by Woodpine Road, Brand Highway, Mugumber Road West and Clarke Road.

People in the area were warned they needed to act immediately to survive and to leave the area if is clear to do so.

The alert goes on to say that if people plan to stay and defend the fire they should not rely on mains water pressure as it may be affected.

The fire comes as the State faces extreme fire conditions with temperatures to top 40C on Saturday.
