WAFL colts round 7: Max Mumme stars as Claremont beat Perth, Peel Thunder win 1-point thriller over Subiaco

Max Mumme produced a monster performance in Claremont’s big WAFL colts win over Perth at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.

The midfielder booted 3.2 from 27 possessions and laid seven tackles in a well-rounded display as the Tigers ran away 43-point victors – 13.6 (84) to 6.5 (41).

Big-bodied State 18s squad member Mitch Barron (27 disposals) and the classy Fletcher Netherway (24) were also prolific in the engine room.

Towering 200cm forward-ruck Luke Brown and Jac Coltman kicked three goals apiece.

There was only one straight kick in it at half-time thanks to Mumme’s after-the-siren effort, but the Tigers blew their opponents away in the second half with eight goals to two.

For Perth, Daniel Hill did some exciting things and Liam Thompson (two goals) was their only multiple goal-kicker.

Like they did in the seniors, Peel Thunder came away with a thrilling win against Subiaco at Leederville Oval.

The Thunder got home by a point – 9.11 (65) to 9.10 (64) – with power forward Corey Tregenza a real handful with 3.2.

At the other end, bottom-aged jet Koltyn Tholstrup kicked the exact same amount in another impressive performance as he shapes up as one of the WA’s best 2023 draft prospects.

Dean Cox-like ruck Jackson Broadbent, who has already played senior footy, was huge for the visitors with 25 hit-outs and 16 possessions.

Gouge’s teammate Ethan Barbieri (24) also found plenty of it, while Reece Torrent (21 and a goal) caught the eye for Peel.

Round seven of colts action continues on Monday with a pair of derbies. South Fremantle host East Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval from 8.30am before the unbeaten West Perth take on East Perth at Pentanet Stadium from 9.10am.

Both games will be streamed live and exclusive on Streamer.com.au.
