WAFL colts: Kane Bevan, Christian Wilson, Mitch Barron, Scott Tuia, Darcy Miller in mix for Jack Clarke Medal

West Perth captain Kane Bevan is among the leading contenders for the Jack Clarke Medal on Tuesday night, given to the fairest-and-best player in the WAFL colts competition.

No player averaged more than the big-bodied midfielder’s 135 ranking points per game during the home-and-away season, with South Fremantle ball magnet Christian Wilson the next best with 131.

Working against the 18-year-old, who has made a smooth transition from a key defender to an inside mid, is that he played 12 of a possible 16 games for the minor premiers because of State 18s duties.

Falcons coach Ryan Lasscock lauded Bevan’s consistency, averaging 25 disposals and a competition-high 14 contested possessions and seven clearances despite getting injured four minutes into one game, and felt he was “definitely” worthy of a spot on an AFL list.
