The number of West Australians with COVID-19 in hospital or requiring intensive care has dropped, just as the State’s Omicron wave is forecast to peak.
There were 4037 cases detected in the 24 hours to 8pm Sunday, the third consecutive day WA had fewer than 5000 daily infections.
In a positive sign, there were 109 hospitalised COVID cases, compared to 122 the previous day. The number in ICU also decreased from five patients to one.
There was also no deaths related to COVID-19 on Sunday.
The decline in case numbers was likely linked to fewer PCR tests being conducted over the weekend, with 9308 swabs carried out on Sunday.
