WA man charged over attack of 73-year-old man in Bunbury after allegedly striking victim with chisel

A man has been charged over the attack of a 73-year-old man in Bunbury after he allegedly struck the victim twice with a chisel.

Police say the elderly man was leaving a Carey Park shopping centre about 12.45pm on Saturday when the 25-year-old man assaulted him.

The victim suffered a laceration from the attack and was taken to Bunbury Regional Hospital.

The attacker was arrested after fleeing the scene and has been charged with intent to harm, being armed and breaching a violence restraining order.

He was kept in custody and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
