Versatile pool makes most of space

A complete backyard makeover helped transform this outdoor space into the ultimate poolside escape.

Designed and built by the team at Bay Pools and Spas, the pool was cleverly thought out and made efficient use of the space available.

“The owners wanted the pool to be versatile, with a particular area for exercise and enough space for the children to play and enjoy,” Bay Pools and Spas Project Manager Neil Brett told New Homes.

“The main area of the pool measures 6m by 4m, while the lap pool is 11m by 2m.”

The project took six to eight weeks to complete and received an award for its design at the 2018 Swimming Pool and Spa Association (SPASA) WA Awards of Excellence.

Set to provide years of entertainment, a shaded timber-decked cabana provides the perfect space to sit back and relax and will be the ultimate hang-out space over summer.

Extensive lighting was installed to enhance the pool and surrounding areas, which has made the space look just as good at night as it does during the day.

“The backyard makeover has only enhanced the level of entertainment at this home, which was a priority for the owners,” Mr Brett said.

“A television was included in the cabana area, where the family can lounge by the pool in complete comfort.

“Before the pool was installed the backyard comprised a big lawn area. Our clients really wanted to maximise the space by adding a pool that could be used for a range of activities.”

A pool cover remains out of sight when not being used and was cleverly concealed within a hidden roller box that doubles as a bench for convenience.
