US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will travel to Kyiv and hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the Ukrainian leader says.
“I don’t think it’s a big secret. Tomorrow I will have a meeting with the US secretary of defence and with Secretary of State Blinken,” Zelenskiy told a press conference held in a metro station in the Ukrainian capital on Saturday.
Zelenskiy added that he hoped that US President Joe Biden would also come to Kyiv “as soon as the security situation permits”.
Zelenskiy said he was planning to talk with Austin and Blinken about the “list of necessary weapons and the speed of their delivery,” adding that news on arms deliveries had improved over the past week.
The White House declined to comment on Saturday.
