Thief chased down street | The West Australian

A woman caught stealing from Steelo’s Guns and Outdoors last Thursday is set to face the Narrogin Magistrate’s Court next week.

Steelo’s Guns and Outdoors owner Bevan Steele said the incident happened last Wednesday morning, when a woman allegedly walked out with a bag without paying.

“She just put it on her shoulder and left like it was nothing,” he alleged.

“One of our customers alerted us and then Ash, who works at the shop, chased her down the street.”

According to Mr Steele, the shop’s CCTV footage was key in reporting the incident to the police and getting the woman arrested.

“The police identified her straight away,” he said.

Mr Steele said it should serve as a warning to anyone planning to target Narrogin’s businesses.

“Businesses in town are sick of shoplifters and burglars, so most of us have upgraded our security, and we’re all interlinked,” he said.

“The police here are great also, they have the local knowledge and often dealing with the same people, so it doesn’t take long to identify someone from a photo or CCTV.”

Narrogin police said the woman was already on bail for multiple charges.
