The West Live: Council of the Ageing’s Chris Jeffery weighs in on spate of attacks on the elderly

Council of the Ageing WA chief policy officer Chris Jeffery will join The West Live this morning to discuss a spate of attacks on the elderly.

Yesterday morning, a 67-year-old Munster grandmother was held at knifepoint by a group of men who broke into her home in what police say was a rare brazen daylight robbery.

Earlier this month, East Cannington man Emiliano Lombardi, 84, was brutally bashed and slashed with pieces of broken mirror after he went to investigate a disturbance outside his Henry Street home.

Podcast host Jenna Clarke will quiz Mr Jeffery on what is causing the violence on the vulnerable and the aged, and question whether COVID-19 welfare could be to blame.

Also on the show, Australian Medical Association State president Andrew Miller will discuss the AFL, hotel quarantine escapees, the hard border and a potential doctor shortage.

Later on the show, Channel 7 Sports Presenter Mark Readings will wrap up the weekend’s AFL and look to the week ahead.

Sunrise Perth correspondent Matt Tinney will be on the podcast to give an update on today’s latest news headlines.

After 9am, The West Australian’s Ben O’Shea will join the show to share some quirky stories from across the State.

Listen live from 8.45am here.
