WA swing bowler Jason Behrendorff showed the world what he was capable of with an incredible five-wicket haul in Australia’s World Cup victory over tournament favourites England last night.
And it seems Queensland bowler and Indian Premier League teammate Ben Cutting may have been the inspiration behind the haul.
New Zealand quick Mitchell McClenaghan revealed on Twitter a group text message between the Mumbai Indian fast bowlers.
It seems Cutting has Behrendorff’s Omega watch he received as part of the squad to win this year’s IPL and he had no intention of giving it back, unless the left-armer produced a five-wicket haul.
“Dorf, if you don’t take 5 today I’m keeping your Omega,” Cutting said in the text.
Well the watch will be around Behrendorff’s wrist again after he took 5-44, his best figures in ODI cricket, to help Australia to the 64-run win.
