The Ashes: Usman Khawaja records back-to-back ton at SCG as Australia set England 388 runs for victory

Australian batter Usman Khawaja has continued his fairytale return to the Test team with back-to-back centuries, heaping pressure on struggling opener Marcus Harris to return his place.

Khawaja combined with WA’s Cam Green to grind England into the SCG turf, as the Australians declared at 6-265 to set England 388 to win the fourth Test.

Khawaja was unbeaten on 101, as the quick wickets of Green (74) and Alex Carey for a duck prompted the declaration.

Green played his best innings of the summer as he supported Khawaja in the biggest partnership of the series, before he skied spinner Jack Leach.

England have not made 300 in any innings this series.

With Khawaja now appearing close to undroppable, Harris is expected to come under immense pressure given Travis Head’s expected recall from a COVID absence.
