Katy O’Shea made a triumphant return in her first Tennis West State League clash in three years to inspire Alexander Park to snap their losing run.
O’Shea, a two-time State League MVP and three-time champion, smashed Cottesloe’s Lara Tovich 6-0 6-2 as to help Alexander Park register a five-rubbers-to-one victory – their first of the season.
O’Shea needed four match points before closing out her victory, with teammate Peyton Duckett following suit against Xinyi Zheng 7-5 6-0 to give the home side the ascendancy.
The win was sealed with two injury forfeits, with Cottesloe’s Libby Mussared assisted off the court after suffering what appeared to be a serious leg injury.
Elsewhere in the women’s competition, Hensman Park sneaked home on sets after being tied on three rubbers apiece with Royal Kings Park, while Peppermint Grove defeated Greenwood 4-2.
Hensman Park again flexed their muscle in the men’s league with a 4-2 win over Royal Kings Park, with Dalkeith (5-1 against UWA) and Cottesloe (4-2 against Alexander Park) also tasing victory.
