A teenage girl needed 10 stitches after a Wobbegong shark bit her on the left foot while she was swimming at North Cottesloe beach this morning.

Isabella Brett-Jensen, 15, had been swimming with a friend about 11.30am when she felt something heavy and painful hit her foot.

“At first I thought it was just a sharp rock that had been dumped on to my feet. It wasn’t until I got up on to the sand that I saw it was a bite mark with a round sphere bite,” Isabella said.

Isabella was able to shake off the shark but it left deep cuts to her left foot and ankle that needed 10 stitches. She says she hopes to be back in the water soon.
