Boulder’s pubs and clubs are preparing for their busiest day of the year tomorrow, with this year’s Boulderfest expected to draw a bumper crowd.
Historic Burt Street has for nearly 20 years been home to the popular Oktoberfest-inspired event which will this time see beer-enthusiasts fill their glasses at seven participating venues — Albion Hotel, Broken Hill Hotel, Recreation Hotel, Grand Hotel, Mines and City Workers’ Club, Boulder Ex-Servicemen’s Club and the 3b Bar.
Boulder Promotions and Development Association’s Corinne Rule said it was encouraging to see so many local businesses jumping on board the event.
“Basically every pub and club within walking distance from the middle of Burt Street will be participating,” she said.
“There is a mixture of entertainment organised between the pubs and there is also food available for patrons throughout the day.
“It is a long day for the staff but it’s fantastic business for them.
This is Ms Rule’s first Boulderfest as BPDA co-ordinator but she expected both old and new fans of the festival to participate.
“New people can discover different pubs and clubs that they’ve never been to before,” she said.
BPDA have provided 1200 commemorative steins for the event which can be purchased from each participating venue for $18 and come with a complimentary f Iron Jack beer. The festival runs from 10am until 5pm.
