Tas police investigate man’s sudden death

Tasmania Police are investigating how a 60-year-old man with head injuries ended up dead on the side of a suburban road.

The man was found near a white Holden Barina on Pardoe Road in East Devonport about 6.00am on Sunday.

Shortly after a man returned to the scene and was arrested by police.

Police believe the two men are connected and may be linked to a burglary at a nearby business on Port Sorell Road where a white Hyundai Getz was allegedly stolen.

Detective Acting Inspector Tony Stewart said police investigate all sudden deaths, with forensics teams scouring the scene to determine how the man died.

“Initial investigations suggest the man’s death is not believed to have been caused by a vehicle crash,” Det Insp Stewart said.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw a man in the Wesley Vale or Devonport Airport area or may have given a man a lift.
