Premiership midfielder Dan Hannebery has reportedly told Sydney he is looking to leave the club.

Fox Sports this evening reported Hannebery, 27, had notified the Swans in his exit interview of his intentions to continue his career at another club.

St Kilda is considered the frontrunner to nab the midfielder in a potential trade, but are said to be reluctant to part with their top draft selection – currently pick five – in a deal.

Hannebery is contracted for another three seasons at Sydney, where he has made 208 appearances in 10 seasons.

The three-time All-Australian was among his side’s best in their elimination final thrashing at the hands of GWS last weekend, but otherwise struggled to find his top form in 15 games this year.

Sydney’s first-round finals exit marked the club’s worst result in a season since Hannebery’s debut campaign in 2009, where they failed to reach the finals.
