A fast-finishing Harvey Bulls came from behind to defeat Carey Park 10.5 (65) to 9.8 (62) at an overcast Harvey Recreation Ground on Saturday night.
In front of a massive home crowd, Mark Pink’s side overturned a 12-point three quarter time deficit to charge home and send the gutsy Panthers home brokenhearted.
With so many quality players — Harley Bennell (Bulls), Rory O’Brien (Panthers) and Brad Holmes (Bulls) to name a few — this game was always going to be a high-quality affair.
And it was.
With former AFL star Bennell pulling the strings in the midfield, the Bulls enjoyed plenty of possession in the corridor, although they were routinely put under intense pressure.
Needing someone to stand up in the dying seconds, beloved figure Holmes (two goals) stepped forward and ensured the Bulls pocketed four priceless premiership points.
Both sides split the remaining men’s grades throughout the afternoon, with the Bulls winning in the reserves and Panthers cruising in the colts.
