Supercars headed back to Tailem Bend

The 13-round schedule for next year’s Supercars championship has been completed with Perth to host again after a two-year absence.

The SuperNight at Wanneroo Raceway is due to be held from April 30 in 2022 after the event was cancelled in the past two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Scott McLaughlin was the overall winner of the 2019 event.

The schedule will start in Newcastle in March and end in November at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The Bend SuperSprint in SA will be the venue for the final weekend in July. The round has been locked in for July 30-31, with three races.

The Bend Motorsport Park in Tailem Bend has hosted five Supercars rounds since its debut in 2018 and this year was the only South Australian event on the calendar with the demise of the Adelaide 500.

Supercars chief operating officer Shane Howard said the return of the event was great news for motorsport fans.

“The Bend is a world-class facility that has produced great racing over the past four years,” he said.
