At opening night, awards were presented to the prize winners from the exhibition, with many of the awards supported by Pemberton residents and businesses, who picked the winners of the prize bearing their name.

The largest prize on offer was the Mona and Torsten Ketelsen Art Prize, which was awarded to Pat Pattinson’s piece Soft Breezes, a Chinese ink piece on Yupo Paper.

Ann Schilo judged the competition and said judging the exhibit was extremely difficult.

“It’s looking at works that’s a person’s hard labour and their creative ability and they put their heart and soul into it, so it’s always difficult to isolate one work above all the others, I think they are all worthy,” she said.

“It’s very impressive that there are this many creative people working this year, under these sorts of circumstances.”

Anna Czerkasow said the sheer number of exhibits made putting the exhibition together a challenge.

“We never know how many works we are going to get in,” she said. “I felt confident that we would have enough, hoping there would be around 50, but we ended up with 65 works all together.”
