Should the Denver Nuggets trade or play Kenneth Faried?

Trade him or play him? What should the Nuggets do with Kenneth Faried?

Kiz: Where have you gone, Manimal? Nuggets coach Michael Malone has arrived at the same conclusion that earned predecessor Brian Shaw so much grief from fans of forward Kenneth Faried. Denver plays better basketball without Faried on the floor. He has not gotten off the bench in eight of the last 10 games. Does Faried have a role on this team, or is it time to move on and trade him?

Mizell: Right now, Faried does not have a consistent role, even with Paul Millsap still recovering following wrist surgery. Malone is opting to start a big lineup that pairs Nikola Jokic with Mason Plumlee and has helped Denver rank sixth in the NBA in defensive efficiency (103.9 points allowed per 100 possessions) over its past nine games. Trey Lyles, meanwhile, has been a revelation off the bench because of his skill and versatility, entering Tuesday ranked second in the league in 3-point field-goal percentage (46.7) while also developing more of a post game. When Malone vowed to expand his bench in 2018, Faried got seven first-half minutes against the Suns on Jan. 3. He hasn’t played since. A relevant stat: Entering Tuesday, Faried ranked 73rd among NBA power forwards in defensive real plus-minus, which measure’s a player’s impact on his team’s defensive performance.
