VideoWATCH: Perth Zoo Senior Vet Simone Vitali has provided an update on the condition of the baby meerkat who was stolen this week.

A second tortoise that disappeared from Perth Zoo seven years ago has been recovered.

The first tortoise was recovered earlier this month after a police raid in Girrawheen.

The two critically endangered Madagascan radiated tortoises will be in quarantine for 30 days, after which time it is hoped they will be successfully reintegrated back into the zoo.

The return of the tortoises follows the alleged theft and recovery of a meerkitten last week the day before its official public unveiling.

Two people from the Wheatbelt have since been charged with the meerkat’s theft.
