School puts some colour into fun run

Clifton Park Primary School’s oval was turned into a bright and vibrant obstacle course on Friday in preparation for the school’s first ever colour fun run fundraiser event.

Bursts of purple, red, yellow and blue were scattered over the 178 students as they hula hooped, web walked, commando crawled and agility weaved their way through the 11 stage obstacle course.

The pre-primary to Year 6 students who participated in the event collectively raised more than $4700 which will go towards enhancing their play areas through construction of nature play areas for the school.

Donations from local businesses helped the school’s P&C committee give away 29 individual prizes to the groups who raised the most amount of money.

Clifton Park Primary School principal Cathy Allen said the event demonstrated the community spirit the school is well-known for having.

“The generosity of the families, community and local businesses in their donations to our P&C are greatly appreciated and will contribute to enhancing our unique natural setting through a larger area of nature play,” Ms Allen said.

“We are really excited to be able to consider this development for our students to build on their critical thinking and problem solving through play.

“The school community is very passionate about this, and it is fabulous to help the P&C organise such an event which brings together our community.”
