Ruthless Sharks maul Falcons in round 11

Dampier Sharks took a bite out of their opposition at Windy Ridge Oval on Friday night, with a 128-point demolition of the Karratha Falcons, giving them a well-deserved percentage boost.

The Falcons were unable to take flight during the first quarter, managing just three points.

The Sharks chomped down and booted a massive seven-goal opening term, with coach and former Docker Steven Dodd kicking his first major of the season to give Dampier a 40-point lead at the first change.

Karratha struggled to hold on to the ball in the second quarter and Dampier made them pay the price for some costly turnovers.

The home side added five more goals while the visitors kicked just one to be down by 66 points at the main break.

The third term was the best from the luckless Falcons with the team managing three majors but the Sharks were still better and another eight goals meant a 93-point lead at the last change.

Dampier finished off the match with another eight-goal quarter, while the Falcons kicked 2.4.

The final score was Sharks 28.8 (176) to Falcons 6.12 (48).

Dampier’s Brett Peake had a field day in front of goal and kicked eight during the match, while Javaughan Ryan was the leading goal scorer for Karratha with two majors.

The reserves match was an absolute nailbiter which went do the final minutes of the game.

The biggest margin for the game didn’t occur until a final goal from the Sharks in the last term put them six-points ahead to win the match.

Dampier could have won by more if they had kicked accurately, booting 7.12 (54) for the game, compared to 7.6 (48) from Karratha.

Falcons’ Brett Mccormack booted three majors.
