Rival sides grind to draw

A tough rivalry between the Broome Bulls and Saints came to a head on Friday night, with the teams meeting their match and producing the first draw of the 2019 season.

From the outset, Saints were firing in a bid to replicate their round one efforts against the Bulls.

However, the Bulls were determined not to be kept scoreless, eventually scoring a behind before the contest entered a stalemate by quarter-time.

In the second quarter the Bulls become aggressive as they tried to extend their lead although Saints’ Nikita Taylor broke through to score a goal and give her team the lead.

A behind ensured the Saints would go into half-time up, while the Bulls were kept scoreless for the quarter.

In the second half the teams heaped pressure on each other.

Bulls’ Sarah Thomason would ensure tensions ran high for the remainder of the contest when she levelled the scores with a goal.

In the end, the contest ended in a draw at 1.1 (7) all. Elsewhere, Peninsula Bombers thumped the Bidyadanga Emus 13.7 (85) to 0.1 (1), and the Cable Beach Greenbacks held off a determined Looma Lady Eagles to win 5.9 (39) to 3.4 (22).
