Riders scramble to region for fun event

Blackwood Youth Action will benefit from the Bridgetown Scramble this weekend.

As part of the event, members from the Vintage Motocross Club of WA and the Classic Motocross Club of WA will converge on Bridgetown for the event, which returns over the long weekend after a hiatus.

Event co-organiser Mark Kestel said the 1.65km natural terrain motocross track would be fun for all participants, which will this year include juniors.

“The event organisers would like to sincerely thank Peter and Maureen Scherini and John and Nadia Wheatley for their help and assistance in organising the event,” he said.

Bridgetown Scramble will be held as a non-competitive ride park day for juniors under 16, in which modern bikes are allowed, riding from midday on Saturday.

Seniors with bikes pre-2000 will run on Sunday.

“Juniors who have not had the opportunity to ride on a purpose-built track are welcomed to attend as the emphasis is on fun and enjoyment,” Mr Kestel said.

Juniors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and supervised at all times.

Riders fees for the day are juniors $25 and seniors $50.

To get to the event, turn onto Brockman Highway from South Western Highway and turn left onto Mockerdillup Road after 2.8km.

Mr Kestel said the location would be signposted.
