Records smashed in 2022 Goldfields Pipeline Marathon

Records were smashed during this year’s Goldfields Pipeline Marathon as runners worked through sweat and mud to cross the finish line quicker than ever on Sunday.

Jacqueline Kellerman completed the 50km ultra-marathon event in 3hr 43min. 53sec., with male winner Adrian Royce less than one second behind her.

The annual event’s record was set last year by Sarah Dyer at 4:15:24, with the former record holder coming in second place for 2022 just more than half an hour behind Kellerman.

Participants could choose to compete in four events including a 10km run, a half-marathon (21km), marathon (42km) and ultramarathon (50km), with $1000 prize money up for grabs for the male and female winners of the full-length marathon events.

Joseph Cleasby clocked the fastest male time in the 42km event, coming in at 2:47:36 and beating last year’s record by two seconds.

He was followed by Thomas Tedge and previous record holder Francisco Sanzana, as well as female winner Lisa Mannix, who beat the 42km record by 5:33.

During the half-marathon event, Sam Colvin was first across the line with a time of 1:25:55, followed by second-place Narry Kumar less than two minutes behind.

The first female to finish the half-marathon was Maia Simmonds who completed the run in 1:30:16, followed by Rebecca Bruce with a time of 1:45:.12.

The community fun run took place on a 10km track, which first-placed Radek Dzitkowski completed in 38:24, with Fynn Moulds and William Miller coming in less than five minutes later.

Ben Green’s record from 2014 still stands at 35:59.

In the women’s race, Jacinta Henderson crossed first in 45:13, with second-place Cindy Hurst 1:12 behind.
