Queensland police shoot man after standoff

A man who was allegedly armed with a shotgun has suffered a leg wound after being shot by police in Queensland’s Logan City.

Officers went to a unit in the suburb of Bethania at 11pm on Tuesday and saw a 48-year-old man inside holding a gun. A woman known to the man was also inside.

Police began negotiating with the man.

“The man allegedly opened the door and walked towards officers, threatening them with the gun,” Queensland Police said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Police shot the man and immediately rendered first aid.”

He was taken to hospital with a leg wound. The woman was uninjured.

The Queensland Police ethical standards command is investigating.
