Pueblo man accused of stabbing victim 61 times gets life in prison – The Denver Post

PUEBLO — A man who entered a last-second guilty plea to allegations that he fatally stabbed another man 61 times at their Colorado home has been sentenced to life in prison.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports that 37-year-old Jeffrey Sylvia was sentenced on Wednesday for first-degree murder after deliberation.

He entered his plea last month just before a trial had been set to begin for the death of 30-year-old Mwalula Bwalya.

Joseph Vandeven with the District Attorney’s office said the case was one of the most violent he’s seen.
