Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reveal first photo of daughter Lilibet on their Christmas card

Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle have shared their first photo of daughter Lilibet.

The couple gave the six-month-old a royal debut to remember, swept up into the air by her adoring mother for their family Christmas card.

Born in June, photos of Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor have so far been kept within the family – until now.

In the snap, Meghan raises her giggling daughter into the air, with Harry seated next to his wife and their son Archie, 2, sitting on his lap.

“This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world,” the festive card reads.

“Archie made us a ‘Mama’ and a ‘Papa’, and Lili made us a family.”

The card also features the sign-off “Happy holidays”, rather than “Merry Christmas”, with the former more traditional in the US where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now call home.

The photographer behind the picture was Alexi Lubomirski, who the couple entrusted to capture their engagement shots – taken in 2017 – and official wedding photos the following year.

Sharing the photo on Instagram, Lubomirski wrote: “This is one of those rare and special projects that one is fortunate enough to be a part of.”

“To be able to continue the story of this family whom I first photographed as an engaged couple, then on the day of their wedding, as a married couple and now seeing their love manifest into two beautiful children, has been a delightful honour.”

Baby Lilibet, who is eighth in line to the British throne, was born on June 4 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California and weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces.

“She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe,” the Sussexes said at the time.
