With the January transfer window well under way, we look at potential Premier League transfer targets from La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1.
Clubs in England often turn their attentions to Europe for talent to bolster their squads, and this winter is no different.
We picked out five players from the top four European leagues that have been linked with the Premier League. Take a look at the key names below and then hit the links for the full list.
La Liga – Denis Suarez
Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez is close to signing a deal with Arsenal, according to reports from Sky in Italy, with AC Milan and Roma also said to have been interested.
Speaking to the Transfer Talk podcast, Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth said: “There does seem to be some seriousness in this. He fits the criteria Unai Emery is looking for in a position on the left or right wing.
“Emery does know Suarez very well, he managed him when he was on loan at Sevilla in the 2014/15 season. Perhaps significantly as well, there was a picture of Ivan Rakitic and Denis Suarez on their way to the Getafe game over the weekend so Suarez did travel to the match on Sunday, but he did not make the 18-man squad.
“Reports suggest that Barcelona do not want to let Suarez go but he only has 18 months left on his contract. There’s no offer of a new one as it stands so this is the window to maximise his transfer fee. It looks like this one could be a go-er.”
Bundesliga – James Rodriguez
The future is unclear for James Rodriguez, with his two-year loan at Bayern Munich ending at the end of the season and unlikely to be made permanent. He is also not needed at his parent club, Real Madrid, with the Daily Mirror reporting that Liverpool and Arsenal are considering a move.
Rodriguez had a successful first season in the Bundesliga but has had a tricky time under new manager Niko Kovac. Arsenal are said to be in pole position for the 27-year-old, who is still in his prime-playing years and also has spells in Portugal and France under his belt.

Serie A – Kostas Manolas
Could Manchester United bring in a central defender in the January window? Kostas Manolas is a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, but United would have to pay the €36m (£32.3m) release clause in his contract.
The 27-year-old Greece international has been a regular in Roma’s backline since moving to Italy from Olympiakos in 2014.
Ligue 1 – Edinson Cavani
There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the future of Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani since Neymar and Kylian Mbappe arrived in 2017. Now, the Daily Express is linking the Uruguay international with Chelsea, who themselves have struggled up front this season.
The 31-year-old has scored 324 goals in 519 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, while Maurizio Sarri has reportedly lost faith in his own strikers – Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata – who have scored just six Premier League goals between them this season.
