Port beach shark attack victim’s family told to expect the worst

The family and friends of the 57-year-old man who was mauled by a shark on Saturday have been told to expect the worst.

The West Australian understands the family was essentially told the victim could not have survived the shark attack.

It has been more than 24 hours since the man was bitten, about 30m from the shore at Port Beach, and all that has been found to date is his goggles.

The family was reportedly delivered the bad news “pretty much immediately”.
