Around 8pm last night police located the vehicle at a petrol station Great Eastern Highway, with the driver allegedly attempting to flee at speed in reverse.

Police say that after ramming into a pole, causing significant damage to the vehicle, the driver and passenger fled on foot and were arrested shortly after.

A 31-year-old Como man and a 22-year-old Victoria Park woman have been charged with stealing a motor vehicle and breach of bail.

They are both expected to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court later today.

WA Police are appealing for the owner of the safe or anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at crimestopperswa.com.au
