Police to test vests | The West Australian

WA police officers will be fitted with different types of body armour in the next fortnight as part of a trial to better protect frontline officers.

The trial will see 60 officers throughout the State fitted with stab-proof ballistic vests in several designs.

Male and female officers from both regional and metro areas will test the designs, and give feedback on their wearability.

It comes after the McGowan Government committed $15.4 million to the cause, and following analysis of the trial data, a contract to roll the protective armour out across the State will be awarded.
