Police to charge alleged Porsche-driving quarantine breacher who ‘flouted isolation’ in Perth

A Porsche driver allegedly breached COVID-19 quarantine on several occasions after being given permission to isolate at home in Perth.

Police say the 45-year-old will be charged with failing to comply with a direction after it was discovered he was not at his home when officers visited yesterday.

The man was granted approval to enter WA via the G2G Pass system and returned to the State on a flight from Sydney on August 26.

When he arrived he was issued a direction to self-quarantine for 14 days at home but when officers conducted a quarantine compliance check yesterday at the property it is alleged he was not there.

It is alleged the man returned home in his Porsche a short time later and was arrested, with police releasing footage of two officers moving in on a luxury car.

Police say further investigations of his movements revealed a number of other alleged self-quarantine breaches.

As a result of his arrest, the man will now be forced to quarantine at a secure quarantine hotel for the remainder of his 14-day quarantine period.

He was escorted to the hotel by police and is expected to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court at a later date.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and that the man is required to undergo all relevant COVID testing but that the advice from the Department of Health is that the risk to the public is low.
