Police search for missing man Reece O’Neill in rural Qld

Authorities are desperately searching for a missing South Townsville man who has not been seen for nearly two weeks in rural Queensland.

Reece O’Neill, 32, was last seen at a Main St hotel in Pentland in the Charters Towers region on September 14, with efforts to find him so far proving fruitless.

Mr O’Neill was reported missing by family on Friday and it is believed he may have been hitchhiking from Pentland to Mount Isa.

Police have asked anyone in those areas or travelling between them to be on the lookout for him.

He is described as caucasian, 183cm tall with a proportionate build, brown hair and green eyes.

Mr O’Neill’s family and police are concerned for his welfare, as he has a medical condition.

Police enlisted the help of the Mount Isa-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew as part of their multiagency search on Sunday.

The chopper scoured the Flinders Highway but found no sign of Mr O’Neill after searching for most of the day.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts has been urged to contact police immediately.
