Police search for driver of stolen SUV that ploughed into Koondoola home

Police are searching for the driver of a stolen SUV that ploughed into a northern suburbs home overnight, narrowly missing the residents inside — and causing extensive damage to house.

Emergency services were called to the crash at the intersection of Hollingsworth Avenue and Moorehead Way at about 12:55am this morning.

Police say a white Subaru Forester was travelling east on Hollingsworth Avenue when the driver failed to negotiate a bend in the road.

The car then hit a wheelie bin before smashing through the living room of the home. Fortunately, the residents where not in the room at the time.

Officer have spoken to the registered owner of the vehicle, who said it had been stolen. The car has now been seized for forensic examination.

Emergency services spent most of the night making the home safe.

Police are still investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information regarding the crash to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
