Police renew search for John Standley who went missing near NSW, SA border

Police are combing rural roads near the NSW and South Australian border after a man vanished in remote outback.

John Standley, 75, left a home in Broken Hill about 1.30pm last Tuesday and was last seen driving a white Ford utility south on Wentworth Road, headed towards Wentworth.

Police were alerted of Mr Standley’s disappearance on Friday after he failed to arrive at his home in Royal Park in South Australia.

NSW and SA Police have conducted extensive searches of the roadways between Broken Hill and South Australia since Thursday but there has been no trace of Mr Standley or his vehicle.

Family and police hold serious concerns for Mr Standley’s welfare as he lives with dementia.

He is described as being of caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of medium build, with grey hair and blue eyes.

Police believe Mr Standley was travelling in a 1992 white Ford F250 utility with South Australian registration plates WSR 846.

He was last seen wearing a shirt and blue pants.

Police are urging anyone who sights John to contact triple-0 (000) immediately.
