The heavily armed Tactical Response Group were called to the house at about noon after reports of a man with a gun.

It is alleged the man had made threats that sparked the tense stand-off

There were no hostages or other people involved but at about 3.30pm six shots were fired from the house.

Hardy Road residents were told to stay in their houses while black-clad TRG officers and members of the bomb squad swarmed into the street.

Hardy Road resident Joan Andri was shocked to see TRG officers with rifles in her usually peaceful street yesterday.

“This is usually a very quiet street,” she said. “You never hear a sound.” She had left her home to go shopping when confronted with the drama. “It was a bit disturbing to see (TRG officers) unloading with rifles,” she said.
