Police pelted with rocks, bottles at Palmyra party

Bottles were hurled at officers as police broke up a wild party involving 150 juveniles in the Perth’s southern suburbs on Friday night.

Several calls were made to police just before 8pm about the party at a property on Zenobia Street in Palmyra.

When officers got to the scene they saw about 150 young people in the backyard drinking alcohol, with more groups arriving by foot and in vehicles.

Several bottles were thrown at police, prompting them to declare the party an out-of-control gathering.

Back-up was called in and further officers in protective riot equipment attended, with more bottles and rocks thrown at police in the street.

Police say about 100 partygoers gathered at a nearby fast food outlet on Canning Highway, with further fights breaking out. Officers managed to break up the group and restore order.

They arrested three juvenile boys and a 25-year-old man will be summonsed for disorderly conduct. Eleven juveniles were detained and taken to the homes.

Police are conducting further inquiries into the incident.
