Police officer Daniel Gerald Back faces Rockingham court on rape charges

A police officer has appeared in a Rockingham court after being charged with seven counts of rape.

Daniel Gerald Back, a sergeant attached to the Mandurah police district, appeared briefly in Rockingham Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning.

The 44-year-old was not required to enter a plea and spoke only to confirm he understood the charges and his bail conditions.

He was released on bail with conditions that he not contact or approach the victim.

He is due in court again on February 8.

Police allege the incidents took place at a private residence on September 24, while the officer was off-duty.

The officer has been stood down from operational duties.
