Police move to cut off ‘threat’ to Perth high school after rumours

Police have moved to cut off any potential threats to the safety of students at a Perth suburban high school.

The public school sent home a message to parents late yesterday after rumours circulated among students about safety concerns.

“Your child may have come home talking about their concerns in relation to their safety at school tomorrow, Friday 13 September,” the email said.

“We are aware of a rumour circulating and the WA Police have been informed. We are confident that the school will be a safe place for students to attend tomorrow.

“Year 12 Mock Exams will run as scheduled.”

Police confirmed they had been working with a school in the area in relation to information provided that highlighted a “potential safety risk to the school”.

“An investigation commenced and subsequent actions were undertaken to ensure that the school and the wider community were not at risk,” Police said.

They said inquiries were continuing.
